What is a virtual classroom
A virtual classroom is any learning space that is not physically in the room. The familiar kind is a lesson on Zoom or a similar platform: teacher and students see each other on a screen. The newer kind is a 3D virtual classroom: students put on virtual reality headsets and enter a learning world together, where they can move, touch and work as a team.
Zoom vs a VR classroom: a comparison
Both are useful, but not for the same things. The comparison shows where each one is strong:
When to choose a VR classroom
A screen-based virtual classroom suits remote learning, lectures and conversations. A VR classroom suits the moments when students need to do: run an experiment, explore something they cannot see, or work together on the same challenge. In proLabsXR, for example, students are together in the same lab, each with their own avatar, and every one runs the experiment.

What you need to start
Standalone Meta Quest headsets, an internet connection and learning content. The teacher runs the lesson from a portal showing who is in which world and at which step. You can start with one class. About the shared world the class meets in: metaverse in education.
