Virtual labs for schools: real experiments in VR headsets
proLabsXR brings six virtual science labs to your school on Meta Quest headsets: physics, chemistry, biology, electronics and engineering, environmental science and robotics. The whole class experiments together, with no expensive equipment and no risk.

A real lab, without the risk or the equipment
A virtual lab is an environment where students run science experiments without physical tools and materials. In proLabsXR it is three-dimensional and experienced from inside the headset: students pick up tools, mix substances, connect circuits and take measurements with their hands. The whole class is in the same world, and the teacher sees in the portal what every student is doing.
This is what the student sees
Every experiment is built like a real inquiry: a question, a hypothesis, measurement and a conclusion. Students work at their own pace and get hints when they are stuck, in Hebrew, Arabic, English and more.
- Hypothesis, testing, sorting and verification, step by step
- A hint and an explanation at every step, without waiting for the teacher
- A student sheet and teaching materials for every experiment

What your school gains
Complete safety
Chemical, electrical and other hazardous experiments run with no physical risk at all.
No equipment, no consumables
No need for a fully equipped lab, consumable materials or preparation time before every lesson.
Every student experiments
Real-time multiplayer: each student runs the experiment, rather than watching.
See the invisible
A living cell, current in a circuit or energy in motion, made tangible at a scale students can understand.
Six science labs in the headset
Every experience starts on Science Island, the central island that leads into all the labs. The library can be adapted and extended to your curriculum.

Physics
Energy, motion, forces and electricity: measure, change one variable and see the result at once.

Chemistry
Acids and bases, reactions and the structure of matter, with no hazardous materials and no clean-up.

Biology
Step inside the cell and the body systems and see structures the eye cannot see.

Electronics & engineering
Build electric circuits, compare series and parallel connections and troubleshoot faults.

Environmental science
Explore ecosystems, climate and resources at a scale no classroom can offer.

Robotics & AI
Program and run robots and learn the principles of artificial intelligence.
What students actually do in the lab
Every experiment comes with a student sheet and teaching materials
The Cell Detective
Explore the structure of the cell and its organelles, from the inside.
Acidic, neutral or basic?
Test substances and place them on the pH scale.
From height to motion
Height energy turns into motion energy, and you measure what happens on the way.
Electric circuit — series and parallel
Build circuits and compare the two kinds of connection.
How many pyramids fill a prism?
Solid geometry: volumes and shapes you can hold in your hand.
The next experiment — yours
The teacher designs a new guided-inquiry experiment, and AI prepares it for the lab.
The teacher sees everything, in real time
While the class is in the headsets, the teacher sees in the portal who is in which experiment and at which step, and can guide and step in from any device.
- Live dashboard: who is in the headsets, in which experiment and at which step
- Class management and personal invitations to an experiment
- A progress map and a detailed report for every student
- AI insights that spot gaps and suggest the next step

Virtual and physical labs: a complement, not a replacement
A virtual lab does not replace the physical lab. It makes possible what is hard, expensive or dangerous to do there.
| Topic | Physical lab | Virtual lab |
|---|---|---|
| Hazardous experiments | Limited or not allowed | Run in complete safety |
| Equipment and materials | Buying, storing and restocking | Headsets and a license only |
| Who experiments hands-on | Usually groups, some watch | Every student in their own headset |
| Invisible phenomena | Hard to demonstrate | Shown in 3D |
| Touching real materials | A clear advantage | Simulated with hand movements |
What you need to get started
Standalone Meta Quest headsets (Quest 3, Quest 3S or Quest 2), no external computer, and an internet connection. You can start with a single headset and grow to a full class or a whole school. Already have headsets? Here is how to add content to them. In Israel, implementation and training can also be chosen through ProMixed's Gefen programs; licenses are bought directly from ProMixed.
Frequently asked questions about virtual labs
What is a virtual lab?
A virtual lab is a computer environment where students run science experiments without physical equipment. In proLabsXR the lab is three-dimensional and experienced in virtual reality headsets, and the whole class experiments together in real time.
Does a virtual lab replace the physical lab?
No. It complements it: it enables hazardous, expensive or invisible experiments, and lets every student experiment hands-on even without a fully equipped lab.
Which headsets do the labs run on?
Meta Quest 3, Quest 3S and Quest 2. These are standalone headsets that need no external computer.
Which languages is the content in?
The system supports Hebrew, Arabic, English and more, so it suits every school sector.
Which ages is it for?
Primary school (exploration and discovery), middle school (focused labs by subject) and high school (in-depth science).
How much does a virtual lab cost for a school?
There is a per-headset package, a class package and a school package. Details and prices are in the packages section of the site. Licenses are bought directly from ProMixed; in Israel, an implementation and training program can be chosen through Gefen.
