Metaverse in education

A metaverse for students: a shared learning world for the whole class

proLabsXR is an educational metaverse for schools: students land together on Science-land, a shared 3D island, each with their own avatar, and from there enter science labs and learning games together. The teacher runs it all from the portal.

What is a metaverse in education

Not a social network, but a 3D classroom

A metaverse is a shared, three-dimensional virtual world you enter in virtual reality headsets. In education, the metaverse turns the class into a space where students are together, talk, explore and build. In proLabsXR it is a learning world for the school, entered with a personal code the teacher sends, with curriculum-based content.

The proLabsXR metaverse

Four things that turn a virtual world into a classroom

Science-land

A shared island with gates into all the labs and worlds.

The whole class together

Real-time multiplayer: students see each other and work together in the same world.

An avatar for every student

Each student picks an avatar: look, hairstyle, skin tone and hands.

The teacher in charge

A teacher portal that shows who is where, and lets the teacher invite and guide.

From inside the headset

Every student designs their avatar

Before entering the world, every student designs their avatar. Inside the metaverse they meet classmates as avatars, talk and work with them on the same experiment, and can join them in a shared room.

  • A personal avatar for every student
  • A shared room and voice chat with classmates
  • Teamwork around the same experiment
  • Progress saved for every student

What students learn in the metaverse

A metaverse for education, with real content

Science labs

Six labs: physics, chemistry, biology, electronics and engineering, environmental science and robotics.

Learning games

In Parkland, any learning material becomes an adventure on an island, in every subject.

Mixed reality

With Quest 3 and 3S, an experiment can move onto a real classroom table.

A metaverse for schools: a managed learning space

A metaverse for students should be a learning space, not an open playground. In proLabsXR students enter with a personal code the teacher sends, into content the teacher chose, and the portal shows the teacher who is in which world and at which step.

  • Entry with a personal code from the teacher
  • Curriculum-based content
  • A live dashboard and a report for every student
  • A clear privacy policy

Why a metaverse in education

In the metaverse students learn by doing and by working as a team: they do not read about the cell, they step inside it together. Learning is active, every student does the work, and even a school without an equipped lab gets a lab for every student.

What you need to start

Meta Quest 3, 3S or 2 headsets, no external computer, and an internet connection. You can start with one class: how to set up a VR classroom. Licenses are bought directly from ProMixed.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the metaverse in education
